Childhood Journey
Hello! My name is Semmah, and I’m thrilled to bring my passion for the Montessori method into a home childcare setting. For over 11 years, I’ve taught at various Montessori schools, but I’ve always dreamed of creating a nurturing and personalized Montessori environment right in my own home.
The idea for this home childcare began when my son was a toddler. I searched for a home-based childcare option that aligned with Montessori principles but could only find large centers or home care environments that didn’t quite meet my expectations. In the end, I enrolled my child in one of those larger, expensive centers, but the experience planted the seed for my dream: to start a Montessori home childcare where children could thrive in a warm, carefully prepared environment.
My journey with Montessori began during my first Early Childhood Education class, where I immediately fell in love with the approach. My teacher saw my enthusiasm and offered me an internship at Montessori Children’s House in Rhode Island. I worked there for four wonderful years as an assistant while earning my master’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a focus on Montessori.
After moving to Trumbull with my husband, I continued teaching at Hudson Montessori School in Danbury for four years and later became a lead teacher at Fraser Woods Montessori in Newtown for two years. In early 2023, I decided to step away from full-time teaching to focus on building my dream of opening a Montessori home childcare. During this transition, I substitute taught at Elm City Montessori in New Haven and immersed myself in preparing for this new chapter. I completed a business class, attended workshops with All Our Kin, and fulfilled the licensing requirements, including Care 4 Kids orientation.
Today, I’m excited to open my doors to children in our community, offering them a warm, welcoming Montessori environment right in my home. As a mom of two—my 10-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son—I know how important it is to create a space where children feel valued, nurtured, and inspired to learn. With my husband commuting to New York City daily, this home-based program allows me to balance my love for Montessori education with quality time for my family.
I can’t wait to welcome your child into this special space where they can grow, explore, and thrive!
